MAIN WHEEL BRAKES.

Aircraft wheel brakes may be applied by depressing the brake pedals. When either set of brake pedals are depressed, hydraulic pressure from both the left and right hydraulic brake system is applied to the main wheel brakes.

A fully automatic, pressure modulating anti.skid system is installed. The system will reduce hydraulic pressure if necessary to prevent tire skidding and provide maximum braking. The anti-skid system is electrically controlled and has a touchdown wheel protection circuit that prevents braking action prior to main gear wheel spinup.

When armed the automatic brake system (ABS) will automatically apply brakes during landing and takeoff. The anti-skid system must be armed and operational as a condition for ABS operation. ABS landing mode is activated when spoilers are deployed either automatically or manually with throttle levers retarded and brake pedals released. ABS takeoff mode is activated during a rejected takeoff upon deployment of ground spoilers provided the flaps are in takeoff range and the nose gear is on ground.

Brake temperature BRAKE TEMPERATURE PANEL.
1. BRAKE TEMP gauge.
Indicates selected or hottest brake temperature.
2. OVHT light.
Comes on when brake temperature exceeds 305ºC and goes off when brakes cool to less than 260ºC.
3. BRAKE TEMP TEST button.
Test brake electrical circuits and OVHT light. Gage will indicate in 425ºC to 475ºC range during test.
4. BRAKE TEMP selector.
Selects individual brake for temperature reading. When at ALL, gage will display temperature of the hottest brake.

Autobrake AUTO BRAKE PANEL.
ARM/DISARM switch.
ARM - ABS armed for automatic braking when spoilers are deployed during takeoff and landing.
DISARM - ABS inoperative. Manual braking available.
AUTO BRAKE selector.
T.O - Provides maximum braking pressure from both left and right hydraulic systems.
OFF - ABS inoperative. Manual braking available.
LAND MIN - Brake application is delayed with approximately 3 seconds. Deceleration level is 4.0 ft/s.
LAND MED - Brake application is delayed with approximately 3 seconds. Deceleration level is 6.5 ft/s.
LAND MAX - Brake application is delayed with approximately 1 second. Brakes are applied with maximum force.

ABS light ABS DISARM LIGHT.
On left/right pilot glareshield.

ON to indicate that the ABS is automatically disarmed or when automatic braking is selected and the ARM/DISARM switch is in OFF.
